Meanwhile I'm gonna look and find myself a second hand 2012 mbp that apparently have better parts and can take me into the sunset for another few years. , that is until the next logic board disaster waiting to happen on this model. The bad news is that I know I am on borrowed time. I frigging hate the feel and look (not to mention the sadistic real life beta-testing Apple inflicts on us lately, especially with El Capitan) of the "new and improved" OSes and lack of backward compatibility of the new machines with Snow Leopard. The good news is that for $500 I have a working mbp that hopefully is going to last a while, I really don't want to give up on SL (10.6.8) - it is the most stable OS Apple has released to date. The seller screwed up his description post online. I stand corrected on the replaceable GPU on this board - it cannot be done. I highly recommend them for parts and spares. I finally got a working MB, a new battery and new fans for about USD 500, shipping included. it is quite the mess they've created! Using more than actually needed. You can use gfxCardStatus to toggle between the integrated and discrete GPUs. Also the nvram fix will be on at boot, while gfxCardStatus has to be manually switched to integrated-only every time I reboot. Dan, Ive tried that avenue when the issue first started occuring. gfxCardStatus is working fine for me.but I am on El Capitan and afraid to upgrade to sierra becuase of this, so maybe the nvram fix would let me do that.knock on wood. ![]() On previous systems (10.610.10) these steps are unnecessary. Since I had the logic board out of the laptop enclosure, I decided to clean and replace all the original thermal paste that Apple applied. El Capitan, Sierra and High Sierra need SIP (System Integrity Protection) disabled. It would be great for you to file bug (s) when you see that kind of behavior. It's not like free () all of a sudden doesn't work. ago There's no such thing as 'just letting the memory leak', really. I would say that its the WebKit instead of the Safari itself bnovc 6 yr. just don't mind the language used! I used a Panasonic Aluminum Polymer Capacitor (. No unfortunately, some says sierra is just letting the memory leaked. The solution is to replace the bad capacitor with a better part! Louis Rossmann recommended using Aluminum Polymer capacitor because they are highly reliable! Here is the link to his video ( ). Solution was to replace the bad tantalum capacitor not just with a similar part! If you do that, you'll end up with the same issue later down the road. Because the bad capacitor can't handle the voltage anymore, it cause the GPU Panic. When the dGPU is running at high performance settings, it requires a lot more voltage. First of all, it is possible to successfully boot a MBP to OS X while still using the failed GPU, after you remove the AMD drivers by booting in command line mode ( CMD+S) and entering these. Results from my research, the issue is the Tantalum capacitor used to regulate power to the dGPU. I did a lot of research on this issue when my MBP started to crash (GPU Panic) 5-6 times a day. There are a lot of reports with regards to Apple previously replacing the boards and after a little while, the problem reappears. vmanvman Posts: 9 Joined: 7.My MacbookPro6,2 was experiencing GPU Panics. Past employers include Roku, Bowers & Wilkins, and. In addition to my day job working on Seekrit Stuff, I do software consulting via my Nevada limited liability company, novel i/o. You may know me as the author of gfxCardStatus. I'm not sure if that's intentional by a security design or a misconfiguration of the phpBB. I’m a naturally-curious software engineer with a passion for sweating the details. Oddly enough, I had to log in to make a search, otherwise it made an error and asked me to search a bit later. I did a search in this forum, but it only yielded a single result of a post made four years ago. ![]() My question is, is there any way obtain this DX11 feature with the current VBoxSVGA adapter? The application I'm trying to use uses a Unity interface, and I'm getting the following error: "DX11 feature level 10 is required to run the engine." ![]() I have gfxCardStatus installed, so I can see the discreet card enabled as soon as I start VirtualBox, so I believe it is being used by the Windows 10 guest. My MacBook Pro has two graphics cards, with VirtualBox using the discreet card (AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256MB VRAM) dynamically. I'm running a Windows 10 guest on top of a macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 host.
